We're Back From Antarctica! What's Next?
Hello and welcome to The Confluence blog! In the coming weeks we will be posting a series of short pieces along with multimedia from our most recent season in Antarctica. Topics will range from what it is like to live in Antarctica, our science, and what teachers and students can learn from remote fieldwork.
We are working behind the scenes to put together a multimedia virtual fieldtrip to the McMurdo Dry Valleys. The fieldtrip will incorporate short stories, photos, and video clips that we collected from November 2016-February 2017.
Work also continues to design and pilot NGSS-based lesson plans for middle and high school science classrooms. Currently, our efforts are focused primarily on a lesson to help students integrate multiple model types (visual, conceptual, and mathematical) as they explore and explain the daily flood events in Dry Valley streams using data from the past 24 years.
Please let us know if you are interested in collaborating on these projects (apply here) or would like more information (joel.singley@colorado.edu).
